This may be an ongoing blogging monster over the next week but indulge me. I remember talking to the kids in front of church a couple of weeks ago about what it meant to praise God. We praise (and when I say praise I mean lose it over!) so many things in life like Hannah Montana, the Colts, the Chargers, etc. but we forget so often to give our God our most intimate, powerful, best, loud, over the top praise!!! Just because He is God should be enough! But what I witnessed last night that I can't put behind me is what American Idol did, whether intentional or not, with the wrong motives or not. It's like they found a way to encompass what I would want in a worship service. Watching people dance, sing, shout, celebrate, and just praise God for "the works of His hand" was inspiring to me. It's actually what I would like in a worship service, even the confetti! We do it for so many others things in life: we celebrate, we decorate, we sing, we become emotional, we lose inhabition, for all kinds of things but rarely for God. Let me ask you this question: When was the last time you jumped out of your seat for something? When was the last time you jumped out of your seat for God?
